Information about our Gold and Silver
The gold and silver bullion we use to make our jewellery is made from 100% recycled precious metals. This is equal in quality to non-recycled precious metals.
What Is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is an alloy created when copper is added to pure silver in order to make the resulting compound more durable and less soft. Pure silver is difficult to work with as it is so soft. Therefore copper is introduced to give the metal a bit of hardness, to allow jewellers to make complex designs in 925 Sterling Silver. Usually, sterling silver has a purity of 92.5%, meaning that 7.5% of the alloy is made of copper or another metal (usually nickel or zinc).
What is 9ct Gold?
9ct (karat) Gold is an English gold fineness standard. It has a composition of 37.5% gold – you can read more details about gold composition carats here.
Ethics
Our Ethics – We buy our gold and silver solely from Cookson Precious Metals in the UK or France. From 2022, all their gold and silver bullion products are made by using 100% recycled precious metals. Cooksongold say “All our 100% recycled gold and silver bullion products are equal in quality to unrecycled precious metals, and are supplied with a card of authenticity”.

Hallmarking
All Sterling Silver items can be stamped ‘925’.
Sterling Silver Jewellery weighing over 7.7g can be hallmarked, in accordance with British Assay Office standards. However, since Brexit, after 2021, getting items hallmarked is practically impossible for me (customs charges, delays), so I cannot currently offer this service, even though I have a UK registered hall-mark.
